Freedom Awaits, but the Consortium is Watching
When rogue drones threaten citizens and the ship’s crew falls ill, the Recorder answers their call for help, once again drawing scrutiny from the Consortium.
With no other option and under an Elder’s overbearing watch, she returns to Pallas Station where she nearly lost her life in the hope of finding something—anything—to save her friends and countless others.
Her friends are determined to keep her safe, but for the Recorder, saving others comes first, no matter the cost.
Cathy’s writing style and Recorder’s character voice are refreshing and engaging to read.
Both times I’ve read Aberration, I have struggled a little bit in the first half of the book with the number of new characters introduced. While I could keep Eric, Cam, and Tia straight (and they’re the only ones who really matter, to an extent), the other characters blurred a little bit. I also missed the Thalassa crew, so I was happy when they got to join the story again.
The plot really picks up once Recorder returns to Pallas, not that it necessarily dragged before then. And I’m pretty sure that I’m going to be forever terrified of roaches after these books. 😉
Aberration is a solid sequel to Recorder and will leave readers ready for the series’s conclusion.
Cautions: light/moderate romance; brief, non-descriptive moderate/heavy violence *
*it’s been a little bit since I finished Aberration, so I may have missed a caution
