publisher’s synopsis

Thrones have been toppled and battles won, but the war of the gods is only just beginning.
The heir to the wolf-tyrant
Faced with a heritage of violence, Rhu Sousuke lives in defiance of his father’s evil—and his inherited attraction to elemental power.
His adoptive father offers a better path. But with the blood of false gods burning through his veins, can Sousuke harness enough power to protect Imperial Princess Vylia and simultaneously resist the temptation that corrupted his ancestors?
The Jade Witch
The Darkwood seek justice for their fallen kin. Together at last but on the run, Brooke and Lysander flee Jadenvive in the midst of political turmoil. Determined to aid her people even while facing rejection, Brooke chooses to trust Felix’s directive to locate Lillian’s ancient vault and steal her most prized the future-seeing dreamcatcher.
The lady god-slayer
Kira found everything she never knew she wanted. Now, the choice hide with Ryon and pray for the war to end favorably, or risk it all to do what is right.
All of the characters from Emberhawk and Silverblood return in Lotusfall, and I enjoyed getting to know some of the “newer” characters more. I’ve really enjoyed seeing Vylia’s character growth.
I did struggle a little with Kira’s character in Lotusfall. While I understood her desire to have peace and not have to save the world, it felt a little contradictory to the girl who chased an enemy soldier and killed an elemental.
This is also just a me-thing, but I also struggled to keep all the various types of elementals and elemental descendants straight, which play an important part in the plot and characters. I do love how complex Jamie’s worldbuilding is though, and how it’s different from typical fantasy fare.
The plot covers several different threads, but Jamie keeps everything straight and weaves it together. There are also some plot twists that you won’t see coming–but afterward you’ll be able to look back and notice the careful foreshadowing.
Lotusfall will leave readers eager for the finale of The Katrosi Revolution series.
Cautions: one kiss; moderate romance; semi-graphic moderate/heavy violence
