Writing is a lot like putting together a puzzle.
In the beginning, you typically start by putting together the border frame, an outline. Then, if you’re like me, you work on the more straightforward sections, where it’s easy to tell what pieces go together. Things start to connect together, and you can get a glimpse of what the complete picture will look like.
Eventually though, you’ll have to do the hard parts, where the colors all blend together, and you just cannot find the right pieces. Your speed slows down. Sometimes you have a piece in the wrong spot. Sometimes you’re missing a piece all together.
But you keep working at it. And you do find the right pieces, and you fix the wrong ones. The picture continues to get filled in. And soon enough, you’ve snapped in that last piece, written that last word. Some parts were easy, some were hard. Some parts were accomplished easier, while others took more time. But you persevered, and you did it.
Analogies are not my strong suit, so thanks for bearing with me today. 😉 Do you like puzzles? If so, what’s your preferred size to do? My favorite is 750-1,000 pieces.
