The story in your head won’t match the story you put down on paper.
It can be frustrating to have lifelike characters, vivid worlds, and snappy dialogue in your head that just feels flat when you write it. But imagination and words are different mediums of storytelling, just like movies and books are different forms of story. Each medium has different styles and strengths. So you can’t expect the stories to match—it just doesn’t work like that.
While the story on paper doesn’t perfectly match the story in your imagination, that doesn’t mean it’s less of a story. Learn to love your stories on paper with its unique differences and the ways that it will grow as you write it down. Because the story you’re writing is beautiful too. ❤
