April Recap

Spring is here!!! *cue cheering*

I am seriously so happy that it is spring. The weather is warm. The flowers are blooming. The sun is shining. I am so happy. I’ve already gotten a sunburn. I hope that you all have been able to enjoy spring and be outside some!

And now, wonderful weather aside, onto my reading and writing!

Reading Recap

I read seven books during April. I bought a bunch of books towards the beginning of the month, which was super fun! I also preordered books for the very first time. So I have books coming in the future!

I really enjoyed all of the books that I read in April, so picking a favorite from April is tricky. However, On the Edge of the Dark Sea of Darkness by Andrew Peterson was probably my favorite. The story itself is really good. And the footnotes are amazing. Seriously. If you read the Wingfeather Saga without reading the footnotes you are missing out on a great part of the series. Also, they are being re-released in hardcover with new cover art, which is super cool. And hardcover is amazing.

Writing Recap

As you probably know, I did Camp NaNoWriMo this April. I started out with a goal of 15,000 words. Just under halfway through April, I switched my goal to 50,000 words. And I won!!!

Story Teller is currently at 50,320 words. I am on chapter 12 out of 20. I’m hoping to finish Story Teller by the end of the month. I want to get it finished as soon as possible so I can focus my attention on the other new thing in my writing life, which is…

I joined the Young Writer Author Coaching program!

The Young Writer Author Coaching program is ran by Brett Harris and Kara Swanson. It’s basically college for authors. It is a four-year program focused on writing: building strong foundations, building a platform, indie-publishing, pitching, traditional publishing, everything. You’ll probably hear about it a lot from now on.

Right now, we are focusing on crafting and outlining a strong premise. So, I’m working on a new idea, which is why I want to get Story Teller finished up. The idea is currently secret, but I’ll share it once it’s ready. Until then, you get to be held in suspense!

But I’m a nice person. So I’ll give you a little bit of a hint. It is another fairy-tale retelling.

But you don’t get to know which one!

I’m also going to start an Instagram account rolling and join the Bookstagram community. So that’s coming soon.

And that about it for my writing and reading in April. How was your April? Hope you all are doing well!
