“In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth.” Genesis 1:1
“So God created man in His own image, in the image of God, He created them.” Genesis 1:27
We were made to create. We are made in the image of the Creator God, created to reflect His character and attributes. And on the first pages of the Bible, we see God creating.
I believe that all of us create, and that creating extends beyond what we normally think of in the arts. Yes, writing, drawing, and music are forms of creating. So is woodworking, quilting, and baking. Going even further, some people create welcoming homes or places where people can learn. Andrew Peterson talks more about this in his novel Adorning the Dark.
So, if you don’t normally think of yourself as creative, I want to challenge you on that. You are made in the image of the Creator. You create. Use the unique creative skills that God has gifted you with, and glorify Him with them.
