Before signing the contract for my debut YA fantasy novel with Nightshade Publishing, I signed thirty contracts for flash fiction and short stories I had published online and in anthologies. Every single one of those stories helped grow me as a writer, and I probably wouldn’t have a contract for my novel without them.
