I used to dream of being published before I graduated high school. Then I dreamed of being published while I was still a teenager. Those dreams have passed.

I still dream of having a book published, of course. But I haven’t attached a time frame to that dream. Because writing, editing, and publishing all take lots of time. And God has a perfect plan for me.

Looking back, I wasn’t ready to be published before graduation, or as a teenager. I don’t know if or when I ever will be published. But I know that God is sovereign over all things, and that includes my writing.

So young writers—
Enjoy where you are now. Be faithful to do the work and improve your craft. Don’t rush things. Trust God and His timing. He knows what is best.
